Up Close Bolivia volunteers supports boys and girls who are staying in a small residential home located in our neighbourhood. Many of these children have suffered violence and abuse and are in a very fragile situation. They live with their mothers, who are undergoing the final stages of a year long therapy programme for drug and alcohol dependency.
Up Close Bolivia volunteers run recreational and therapeutic sessions which draw on their own skills and experiences – for example through art, music, dancing, sports activities.
The home is run by a small team of dedicated professional who will welcome you with open arms and you will soon feel very much at home here in this community.
The kinds of volunteers we need for this project are people:
- with any specialist therapy skills or professional experience with care services with very vulnerable children and adults
- who can help with the maintenance of the home
- who can teach vocational skills such as cake making, chocolate making and sewing
